Frequently Asked Questions
Doula Training and Certification
Sara initially trained through DONA but has chosen not to certify. There are several reasons behind that decision that Sara can discuss during consultations.
Registered Nurse
Sara is a registered nurse through the state of Georgia. Sara engages in continuing education to maintain said license.
Insurance
Sara does not take insurance directly or participate in Carrot. If a client has insurance that covers doula care then Sara can provide a Superbill (a highly detailed report clients can provide to their insurance company to try and get reimbursement) after services are rendered. Sara cannot guarantee reimbursement though.
Working with Partners, Friends, & Family
Sara endeavors to learn the needs, wants, and goals of the birthing person, their chosen partners, and other people who will be in attendance as a birth companion. Collaboration and communication are important tools to develop during the prenatal period so that when birthing time is here we work together smoothly to support the birthing person.

On-Call
Sara begins call at 37 weeks. If clients go into preterm labor, Sara will do everything in her power to still be at your birth, if Sara cannot attend your birth then a backup doula will be provided. Payment expectations are in Sara’s contract.
Placenta Encapsulation
Sara does not provide placenta encapsulation. If you desire placenta encapsulation then those services would need to be coordinated with another provider.
